Las Torchas Sheltered Accommodation
The Las Torchas Sheltered Accommodation is close to the centre of Estrella, near a Health Centre and very close to the bus station. It is designed for people with mild or moderate degree of disability, who are independent and have a certain level of ability to live independently with support.
The sheltered accommodation helps to give independence to people with a moderate degree of disability, through dynamic integration and cohabitation in a family-type setting. Monitors are there to assist and provide care around the clock.
Residents do daily tasks as though they were living at home, such as cleaning and caring for rooms, personal hygiene and tidiness. They are provided with minimal supervision which gives them a great quality of life. Users have the resources they need to live independently and are equipped with skills that allow them to integrate into their surroundings.
Many work in occupational centres, deciding for themselves when to go out and even come back to the flat. They use public transport, are able to manage money and go shopping, and have sentimental relationships. They are provided with educational workshops for cognitive stimulation or life management skills, as well as leisure activities which form part of an independent lifestyle. In the best of cases, users are eventually able to move into completely private accommodation and require no further help.
Las Torchas sheltered accommodation is owned by the Gobierno de Navarra and is managed by SARquavitae. All places are subsidised.
